| Haytor meteorological office is situated in a family
home in Haytor just up the hill from Haytor Vale. The
site is on a slope with an average height of 310m asl.
Due west lies Hay Tor rising above 450m and to the north
Haytor Down. So the site is very sheltered from winds
with a westerly component. |
 |
| However, it is very exposed to winds from the east,
especially ESE where winds blow in unopposed from the
English Channel across Teignmouth just 12 miles away. |
 |
| Winter weather can be wild at times, but it snows too
with Haytor just above the snow line usually as the
winter pictures show. |
